“Once Only” – reviews

Eternal Return - Once Only

“Once Only” is the debut album by Eternal Return, an international progressive ensemble consisting of Colin Edwin, Robert Jürjendal, Miguel Noya, Paul Godwin and Miguel Toro. Here are a few reviews of the album, published around the time of its release in February 2021.

To celebrate the release of “Once Only”, Fifteen Questions published a series of in-depth interviews with the members of Eternal Return, including Robert. The article covers everything from his early career and refining his musical style, to Robert’s current technical setup and broader relationship with technology. You can read the full interview here.

Midwest Record says the album (and group itself) is “loaded with modern mysticism”. MLWZ (in Polish) published a review which also describes the recording process and inspiration behind the album.

“Water Finds A Way” – reviews

Robert Jürjendal released his latest solo album, “Water Finds A Way”, in February 2021. Here’s a selection of album reviews published at the time:

Robert Silverstein praises the album for being “a breath of fresh musical air” on Roots Music Report.

Steven Reid focuses on the importance of a focused listening experience in his review on Sea of Tranquility.

JP’s Music Blog describes the range of emotions and feelings encapsulated in various tracks on the album.

AnneCarlini.com hails the album as a “mesmerizingly magnificent musical opus”.

Zachary Nathanson describes the album as “a spiritual journey to find your inner self” in his review for Echoes and Dust.

Margus Haav interviewed Robert about his creative process and the inspiration behind this album for Postimees (in Estonian).

All About Jazz lauds the “colorful guitar/effects-based conception […] with rich harmonies and melody lines” on the album.

DT News (in Italian), Profil (in French), Betreutes Proggen, AFTERglow (in Dutch) and Carry’s New Underground Music (in Dutch) published articles about the new release, which also included a brief overview of Robert’s career.

“Water Finds A Way” was released by NEWdOG Records. The album is available now on Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

“Once Only” – Eternal Return

Eternal Return is an international progressive ensemble which combines various artists that have previously recorded and toured together. The group consists of Colin Edwin, Robert Jürjendal, Miguel Noya, Paul Godwin and Miguel Toro.
Their debut album “Once Only” was recorded in Berlin in 2020 by Bob Spencer and mixed in London by Jonathon Hucks.

Eternal Return - Once Only

The album is concerned with “nomadism,” inspired by Noya’s status as part of Venezuelan economic and political diaspora. Musically siting seminal progressive ambient-jazz-pop influences such as Talk Talk’s “Spirit of Eden” and David Sylvian’s solo work, the album is something fresh, darkly mysterious and beguiling.

– NEWdOG Records

The album will be released by NEWdOG Records on the 23rd of February. The digital pre-release is available on Bandcamp now!
